Mental health refers to a balanced state of mind, emotions, and social well-being. It affects our perceptions, reactions, and actions. It also involves handling stress, interactions with others, and making good decisions. Mental health is important throughout life, including in childhood and adolescence.

Anxiety and depression are the most frequent issues, impacting one out of every ten persons. Anxiety and depression can be severe and long-lasting, affecting a person’s capacity to function.

Causes of mental health problems

Biological causes of mental health problems

Genetics, fetal damage, toxin exposure, brain disorders or traumas, and drug addiction are all biological factors. Many specialists believe that organisms inside the brain and nervous system cause brain disorders.

Social causes of mental health problems

Social disadvantages such as social isolation or loneliness, discrimination, poverty, and debt can lead to mental illness. In addition, having a long-term physical illness is a cause of mental illness.

Mental illness is also caused by the misuse of drugs and alcohol. If a person has trauma or a neurological illness such as epilepsy may have an impact on behavior and mood.

Importance of mental health

One of the strongest pieces of evidence for its importance is the link between mental health and relationships. Mental illness may affect how we communicate with our friends and family. Passive aggressiveness, antagonism, and difficulty to carry out daily activities are all common symptoms of mental illness. Self-care for mental health is very important and, if necessary, medication can help in maintaining mental stability.

Mental health also has an impact on physical health. Our mental and physical health are connected. Mental diseases can cause anxiety, which can damage our immune systems. A sick mind leads to an inactive and unhealthy life.

  How can you maintain your mental health?

•       Spend quality time with friends, family, and people you love.

•       Give yourself a day off once a week.

•       You must express your emotions and talk about your feelings.

•       Join the gym and exercise every day.

•       Negative people should be ignored.

•       Stay active and eat nutritious foods to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

•       Relax and enjoy your leisure activities.

•       Set attainable objectives.
